Lab Manager Part-time (m/f/d) (#NKTA01)

The Institute of Molecular Biology gGmbH (IMB) is a Centre of Excellence for Life Sciences funded by the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation and located within the campus of the University of Mainz in Germany. IMB focuses on basic research in the life sciences, ranging from epigenetics, DNA repair & genome stability to developmental biology, and bioinformatics. We are looking for a Lab Manager for the research group of Nard Kubben ( in part-time (19.5 hours/week).

You will

  • Support experiments by developing reagents and/or optimizing conditions
  • Develop and test new assays
  • Be responsible for the laboratory maintenance
  • Be responsible for communicating with vendors and placing orders
  • Be involved in training laboratory members

Required qualifications

  • Completed vocational training and experience as a Lab Technician(BTA/MTA)
  • Experience in molecular biology laboratory techniques (PCR, Western Blot, Immunofluorescent Staining) and molecular cloning
  • Experience in maintenance of cultured mammalian cells
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills
  • Dynamic, self-motivated and team work spirit

Desired qualifications

  • Previous experience of working  within international groups
  • Experience in genetic engineering with CRISPR/Cas9
  • Experience in fluorescence microscopy techniques
  • Experience/desire to learn working with mouse models
  • Experience/desire to learn working with cellular aging models
